About Kay

Hi there, friends! I’m Kay, and I’ve been knitting longer than a lot of folks have been walkin’ this earth. I learned at my mama’s knee back when I was a little girl growing up in Santa Cruz, California. Those were the days—sitting beside her, the ocean breeze coming through the window, while she showed me how to hold the needles just right and turn a simple ball of yarn into something warm and wonderful.

These days you’ll hardly ever catch me without a knitting project in my hands. I’m usually working on something soft and cozy for my great-grandchildren, a special piece for my daughter out in Colorado, or a little something just for me (because a gal’s gotta treat herself now and then!).

Every now and then I join in on community knitting projects—making hats, scarves, and blankets for our veterans and first responders, for folks who are homeless, and for church groups right here in our area. There’s nothing better than knowing your stitches are helping keep someone warm when they need it most.

Truth is, I don’t really need much of an excuse to pick up my needles. If there’s yarn and a good pattern (or even just a bright idea in my head), I’m happy as a clam. Knitting’s been my joy for more than seventy years now, and I still get a thrill every time I finish a piece and see the smile it brings.

If you’re local and would like a little one-on-one help with your own knitting, I offer private tutoring for ladies (and the occasional gentleman) who want to learn or improve. Come on by—we’ll sit, chat, and let those needles click away together.

I’d love to meet you!

Warmly,

Kay
